It is with regret that Sussex County Pool association have to announce the sad passing of Pete Ashman last week.
Pete was retained and played pool for the Sussex County pool team for over 15 years and was an exceptional pool player. He won numerous competitions both at league and county level and was well known for his cool nerves, fair play and honesty. Pete was also very active in helping young pool players progress their games and regularly practiced with them on his table at home. Both Pete’s sons William and Dominic are now also great pool players, playing for Sussex, thanks to Pete’s guidance. Above all Pete will always be known as one of life’s really good guy’s who never turned down a cry for help and always did whatever he could for those less fortunate than himself.

The county have over the last months received an invitation to transfer the home venue from Chichester to Rileys in Brighton.
The chairman felt it disloyal to enter discussions during the contract with Chichester but with the agreement ending and a new leader the committee met with the Rileys management and voted 7-2 to move the county to Brighton
As such please note that with immediate effect the new home of Sussex is:
RILEYS
119 LONDON ROAD BRIGHTON
EAST SUSSEX

Following the sad news of Brian passing away over Christmas, the Region Committee felt it right we all honour Brian's hard work for the Region/London/Pool over the years.
For those that didn't know Brian, he was a long standing member of the London County scene, and served the Region on the committee over numerous years. One of his notable achievements was setting up the formula for the current inter county fixtures, without the use of software etc, purely on paper, covering a ten year cycle, and worked tirelessly for the good of the game generally.
At the Region committee meeting held on 17/01/09 the following was agreed:
At all county matches on 1st Feb, 1 minutes silence will be observed by all teams as a mark of respect for Brian.
We trust this will be honoured by all, as we all owe a debt of thanks to Brian, and in Region 7 we are a big community who have pride and respect for our fellow players.
For the Mens County Trials on 18/01/09, the venue is now 'Rileys', London Road, Brighton.
The Ladies & Juniors County Trials on 11/01/09 are still CHICHESTER SNOOKER CLUB TERMINUS ROAD CHICHESTER.
